Pinky Promise

by Grace Danielle Ellis

Artist: Andrew Fusek Peters

As I walk with Jesus,
our pinkies interlock,
but our hands do not sway.

We walk through
the valley,
as shadows of death
graze my skin,
and an orange sun
rises over the horizon.

I lie down in the valley,
and He breathes life
back into me.

Heaven’s chiropractor
begins to release the
heaviness,
and it lifts from me.

He beckons me,
bringing me back
to where I belong,
illuminating my path;
He steadies me.
