The Flame Tree

by Andrew McDowell

It was upon the holy ground,
When the Lord’s flame shone so profound,
Within the branches of a tree;
For his people burning so bright,
That in all his glory and might,
Our fathers’ children may be free.

Praise the flame tree, brilliant red!
For the Lord Our Father has said,
He hasn’t forgotten his flock.
May we through the darkness, be led,
By His light on this path we tread,
To drink the water from the rock!

Up on the mountain standing high,
The Lord has heard his people’s cry.
And so He cast a fiery glow!
Within the color of this flame,
A seed’s growing in His name,
To where milk and honey flow!
