The North Star

by Andrew McDowell

Alone in calm or stormy seas,
Many leagues far away from shore,
Almighty Lord, hear my prayer, please.
May the North Star guide me evermore.

The sky is filled with stars so bright,
Always moving and on the go;
You alone are constant in the night.
Following the Northern Star’s glow…

No matter where I have traveled,
There you will be guiding me through.
When everything has unraveled,
Fixed and firm, you always are true.

Northern Star, Northern Star, shine on.
No matter how astray I’ve gone,
Northern Star, Northern Star, shine on.
The Lord’s light guides me to the dawn.
