The love of Christ is like a tree
with roots so wide and deep,
like mighty tendrils strengthening,
a love that is complete.
He’ll make his home there in your heart
the more you learn to trust.
He’ll be a firm foundation.
To welcome Him, a must.
Initially you may not grasp
the depth and breadth of it,
but as it grows inside your heart,
in time you will admit
there’ll never be a love like His,
encompassing, expanding,
but as His love fills up your heart,
there’ll be some understanding
that as the tree grows, roots do, too,
as His love keeps faith strong.
That strength will deepen over time
and last your whole life long.
His Word has told us all these things.
What’s promised will come true.
The love He gives, a gift it is,
and when it comes to you
you’ll know His promise is fulfilled,
and finally understand
that this is what completeness is
as God the Father planned.
Then in the fullness of His love
and blessed by Christ’s own blood,
you will be filled with life and power,
the gifts that come from God.
And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in Him. May
Your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, and how deep his love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3:17-19
