As with the gentle aromas of
spring’s beginnings,
bring me ever closer to you.
May I never lose sight
of what this all means
in the great scheme
of creation’s plan,
never tire of the cacophony
of sights and sounds
that make each season new.
May the turmoil and challenges
of life never dull my senses.
May I always be keenly aware
of your glorious handiwork,
never immune from noticing
the plump little robin
signaling the arrival of spring
with his unmistakable overture.
May the emergence of winter
flood my soul with the sweet smell
of musky, fresh soil
as the last snowfall leaves the earth
igniting thoughts of planting,
tending and harvesting
fresh nourishment for my table.
Fill me with the wonder
of summer as I
contemplate outside gatherings
with those I love,
from children to those for whom
this is no longer new
but who are still filled with wonder.
Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of it all.
May I always savor each
fresh and fragrant element
that is your magnificent Creation.
