Tether my heart to Your courts, O Lord
Make me to stand at the entrance to Your sanctuary
Draw me into Your Holy of Holies
Where Your fire burns the hottest
Your coals purify the cleanest
Where Your love satisfies the deepest
Your heart leaves me speechless
On my knees
Before Your throne
Kissing Your feet
For You are like the Rocky Mountains in Spring
Cool air running down
Toward the valley
Refreshing, delighting, restoring
You are like the Amazon forest
Warm and earthy
Displaying diversity
I am one variety
You are like the Cliffs of Dover
Pure-white, brilliant limestone
A fortress withstanding the elements
Protecting against the enemy’s armaments
You are like the great Euphrates
Flowing through every civilization
Supplying good and evil generations
With sun and rain
So tether my heart
Steady my feet
Draw my soul
That I might dwell in Your courts
Forever.
