Alpha
the beginning
the start
the leader of the wolf pack
the brightest star in a constellation
like a bright and morning star
it’s alpha
the first letter of the greek alphabet
the right ascension
like the bright and morning star ascending
into heaven
it’s alpha
unlike misaligned men who forgot the true meaning of alpha
there’s only one alpha

Omega
the conclusion
the finisher
the lone wolf
which sounds lonely
but when you created everything it’s impossible to be lonely
its omega
the last letter of the greek alphabet
the 24th letter
complete
and full
like the 24th hour
complete
and full
and enough
and the 1st hour starts again
like the first letter
going through the greek alphabet
from beginning until the end
from the first until the last
just to remind us
that Alpha and Omega is in everything

and when Alpha and Omega is intertwined in all of life
you can’t help but notice
when the summer leaves turn brown and fall
and branches become bare in winter
but grow those green summer leaves
every single time

leaves
come from stalks
come from seeds
in the dirt
come from earth
who on earth
would have thought of that?

when the earth rotates on a small axis that schedules the sun and moon to be in their proper
places
at the first hour
down to the 24th hour

navy
turns to orange
turns to baby
blue and white
in the sky
only one on high
could have thought of that

when the body charges up in the morning with the energy needed to get
through
the day
through
the 24 hours
through
the alphabet
and recharges in the night
with closed eyes and slowed heartbeats
and by Grace and Mercy
the body gets to start the alphabet again

the beginning thought of your life before your beginning
the bright and morning star
who was here
before the sun
called you a son
and called you a daughter
an invitation
written in blood
so you could experience the timelessness of Alpha
and the wholeness of Omega
at the same time
there’s only one who was smart enough to think about that
